Extraordinary 1970s James Galanos Purple Silk Chiffon Demi-Couture Dress designer-fred-perlberg There is one teeny nickJames Galanos made couture level gowns with a level of craftsmanship that were on par with the French couturiers. Galanos was a master cutter and draper and he used couture techniques in the construction of his dresses and gowns. His work is held in all of the major museums and he is one of my personal favorites. Here he has used a beautiful, fine silk chiffon that is completely covered with a large purple flower print. The skirt is cut to have a
