The woven black and gold lace lame is known as cobweb lame and is highly prized from this period. The dress follows an elongated shift line, that flows over the body fanning out generously below the knee into an ornate fishtail that would fall to around ankle or floor level depending on the height of the wearer. A particularly special feature of the piece is the exquisite shoulder detail.
